To rotate Autotask API keys, we'll follow these steps:
- Generate new Autotask API Keys
- Update API keys in ZenContract
- Verify the updated API keys
Please note there will be some downtime when generating the new Autotask API keys and verifying them in ZenContact. While this may only be a minute, we recommend that you do this away from peak times to avoid disruptions in ZenContract.
1. Generate new Autotask API Keys
- Open Autotask and navigate to Admin > Company Settings & Users > Resources/Users (HR) > Resources & Users.
- Click Edit on the API user you wish to rotate API keys for.
- Under the Credentials section, edit the Username or click the Generate Key button to generate a new Username.
- Click Generate Secret to generate a new Password.
- Save the Username and Password in a notepad before clicking the Save & Close button at the top of the page. The Password will not be accessible later so DO NOT MISS THIS STEP.
2. Update API keys in ZenContract
- Log into ZenContract and navigate to Admin > Settings > Integrations > Autotask.
- Copy the Username from Step 1 and paste it into the Autotask Email field in ZenContract.
- Copy the Password from Step 1 and paste it into the Autotask Password field in ZenContract.
- Click the Save Changes button.
3. Verify the updated API keys
- After clicking Save Changes, a "Test Connection" pop-up window will appear. Click on the blue OK button to test the connection.
- If the connection succeeds, you will see a green Connection Success message.
- If the connection fails, you will see a red Connection Failed message. In this scenario, please retry the steps above or contact support@zencontract.com for assistance.
